Borrowing

Book Borrowing

Students can now enter the Library to browse and borrow using our self-service machines. We are still offering a Click and Collect service for those who prefer to request their books online and collect at Library Reception.

Click & Collect: How it works...

1. Order your books through Summon and your Library Account Online (Learn how here)

2. Wait for the library to email you that your book is ready for collection

3. Come to the Library Reception to collect your book

Borrowing Rules

Undergraduates

1. Students can borrow up to 20 books

2. Loan periods will be for 2 weeks on all general lending items. We also ave 1 day and 3 day loan periods. We no longer have 4 hours loan items in the Library. 

3. Items can be renewed providing another student has not requested the item. 

4. Students can request and collect items at any time when the Library is open for click and collect

5. Standard fines (20c per day on general lending, 1e per day on short loan items) will apply from 1st October on any overdue items. Replacement fines will be applied on lost items from 1st September

6. Books will be held on request for 4 days after which they will be cancelled and re-shelved

7. Dissertations can be borrowed this semester, along with items from the reference section

School Placement Students

1. Students can borrow up to 20 books

2. Loan periods will be for the duration of the semester

3. Students can request and collect items at any time when the Library is open for click and collect

4. Requests will be held for collection for 4 days after which they will be cancelled and re-shelved

Postgraduates & Staff

1. Students can borrow up to 28 books

2. Loan periods will be for 2 weeks on general lending items and 1 week on all short loan items

3. Items will automatically renew providing another student has not requested the item.

4. Students can request and collect items at any time when the Library is open for click and collect

5. There will be a fine of 1 euro per day on any items that have been requested and are not returned by the due date. Replacement fines will charged on lost items. Fines only apply to student accounts. 

6. Requests will be held for collection for 4 days after which they will be cancelled and re-shelved

7. Dissertations can be borrowed this semester, along with items from the reference section

AV Items

Teaching practice items for students on school placement are available to borrow also.

DVDs and CDs can be borrowed and requested through Summon and your Library Account online.
